My Writing

Have a look...there is poetry, short stories, fiction and non-fiction.  Try not to throw too many tomatoes........they get stuck on the screen. :)

Honor Harrington

by David Weber.  This is a science fiction series that is definitely a cut above the rest.  For once there is a female heroine who manages to be competent without bitchiness and who is truly in control, and with nobility too.  This series is what STAR TREK Voyager was supposed to be.

The Witching Hour

by Anne Rice.  This is part of the Lasher series.  The writing is a little dense at first, but bear with it, it gets MUCH better.  Rice writes with a kind of cosmopolitan sophistication that for me pretty much sums up the Gothic experience...decadence and elegance, weeds and glamour.

Wizard's First Rule

by Terry Goodkind.  Richard Rahl is a common woodsman who finds out his father is an evil emperor.  Now, granted, we have all seen the Cinderella variation before, but Goodkind manages to make it seem new with terrific writing and the ruthless willingness to royally (no pun intended) screw over his characters. There are a total of eight books in this series, Wizard's First Rule, Stone of Tears, Temple of Winds, Soul of the Fire, and Faith of the Fallen (the best of the series), Pillars of Creation, Naked Empire, Chainfire.

Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book

The story behind this book was of the first "confirmed" sightings of fairies in a photograph, which was believed for over two decades.  This is the Lady's journal, complete with pictures of "pressed fairies" that will make you roll on the floor laughing, even if you don't bother to read the story.  Of course, the journal entries themselves are even funnier as she tries to blame her general naughtiness on the fairies' interference.

Let Them Eat Cheesecake and Second Slice

by Olivia.  I will admit, though I like both books, Second Slice is much better in my opinion.  Olivia paints from pictures taken by herself or her husband.  Many of her models are famous, such as Rhonda Ridley (USA...Rhonda UP all night) and Pamela Anderson.  My personal favorite is Julie Strain, her personality comes through so well in all her photos. The most intriguing painting I saw was of Cindy Daguerre, great-niece of the inventor of photography.  To see Cindy in a painting with such visual impact and so tastefully erotic seems to me ironic considering who her uncle is. Maybe it runs in the family?

Originally this post said Cindy was the granddaughter of the inventor of photography. She was gracious enough to send me an email about her actual relationship after "googling" her name and finding my site. I'm absolutely stunned that I got the opportunity to talk to her!

The Stand and Rose Madder

by Stephen King.  The Stand tells about how the government twitched with a plague vial and kills of most of the world...and then weird supernatural things begin to happen in true King fashion.  Rose Madder follows the escape of a woman from her psycho, murderous husband, and how she gets rid of him for good.
